In this piece, I wanted to place innocence and violence in the same image and let that contradiction do the work. A child holding an oversized weapon turns something familiar into something disturbing, while the ornate frame makes it feel almost like a cherished domestic object. I’m interested in that tension between what we are taught to protect and the violence we allow into the world around it.
